Overview
Saint Church is a local church plant in Lake Stevens, WA. For their launch service, they wanted a cinematic video to showcase the experience of an average service. The main goals were atmosphere, and shots that could be re-used later as social media content.
Solution
I filmed the service solo — camera in hand, run-and-gun style. This shoot, like any event shoot, was about being aware of my surroundings and clocking moments as they happened. In terms of the post-production process, we opted for a warm, filmic look in the color grade. Layering film emulation on top of some carefully-crafted split toning, we were able to end up with a look that was both natural and textured, but also controlled and consistent shot-to-shot.
